2018年8月，澳大利亚联邦科学与工业研究组织（CSIRO）发布了《国家氢能路线图》[1]。该路线图分析了氢的制备、存储及运输、应用等氢利用价值链上的主要技术、优势技术、发展的现状及存在的障碍，提出了针对性的技术和政策建议，最后针对不同的研究方向提出了2018-2025年和2025-2030年的研究计划。

该路线图认为，氢气可以取代天然气作为低排放热源，也可以替代许多工业过程中具有成本竞争力的低排放原料，而且通过克服与能源间歇性相关的挑战，氢气可以促进电力网络向可再生能源占比更高的阶段过渡。此外，氢气还为优化电力、天然气和运输部门之间的可再生能源使用提供了机会。在全球范围内，氢气行业受到一系列成熟技术的支撑，相关市场即将达到“临界点”。
