Army Combat Trauma Care in 2035: A Workshop

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, under the auspices of the Board on Army Research and Development, convened a workshop of leading military, researchers, medical, and intelligence professionals on November 18, 2019, to examine the future of Army combat trauma care and emerging medical advancements that could improve soldier survivability in high-intensity conflicts in 2035. Specifically, the workshop participants explored and discussed how bioengineering can return soldiers to the fight more quickly; areas of Army tactical combat care that can be improved now; and future related threats, risks, and status of preparedness. This publication highlights the presentation and discussion of the workshop.
