With the successful completion of the initial phase of its work the BKCASE leadership has now reorganized into a dynamic partnership between three well known organizations that include the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society (IEEE-CS), and the Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC). Two representatives from each of these organizations make up the BKCASE Governing Board. This board is responsible for overseeing policy for both SEBoK and GRCSE.
The SEBoK is intended to provide guidance on the range of topics contained in the discipline of systems engineering and gives an organizational concept for structuring the information. The purpose of the SEBoK is not to contain all information for systems engineering, but instead to provide an overview of the breadth of the discipline in context, with pointers to relevant sources for additional detail.

The Body of Knowledge and Curriculum to Advance Systems Engineering Project (BKCASE), began in the fall of 2009. Its original vision was that, through its work “Systems engineering competency models, certification programs, textbooks, graduate programs, and related workforce development initiatives around the world align with BKCASE.”
