Patents and the Fourth Industrial Revolution: the inventions behind digital transformation

This study, which has been carried out by the EPO in co-operation with the Handelsblatt Research Institute, is intended to provide users of the European patent system and the broader public alike with information about a major technology trend that is being observed across a whole range of technical fields. Known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, this trend is primarily driven by the emergence of the Internet of Things. It also encompasses a number of other technologies, such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

总部位于德国慕尼黑的欧洲专利局10日发布的一份研究报告显示，全球范围内与第四次工业革命（4IR）相关的技术创新显著加快，中国相关技术的国际专利申请数量增长尤其迅速，2010年至2018年间年均增长率约为全球水平的两倍。

这项研究着眼于全球范围内与4IR相关的所有国际专利，涵盖物联网、大数据、5G和人工智能等领域。

报告显示，2010年至2018年间，中国4IR相关技术专利申请数量的年均增长率为39.3%，而全球年均增长率为19.7%。

报告指出，中国在4IR领域的创新主要集中在信息互联和软件领域，华为、中兴通讯等中国企业已成为这两个领域的全球领导者。

报告说，深圳和北京是全球重要的4IR专利集群城市。2010年至2018年间，在全球所有4IR相关专利中，约3.1%来自深圳，数量仅次于韩国首尔、日本东京、美国圣何塞和日本大阪，居全球第五；约2.3%来自北京，为全球第八。

欧洲专利局主席安东尼奥·坎皮诺斯说，智能、互联设备、高速无线互联网、大数据和人工智能等技术组合正在改变全球经济并对制造业、医疗保健和交通运输等多个行业产生深远影响。
