Am 23. September 2020 haben VDMA, ZVEI und 20 namhafte Industrieunternehmen die „Industrial Digital Twin Association“ (IDTA) gegründet. Der Verein bringt den digitalen Zwilling für die Industrie (Asset Administration Shell) in die breite praktische Anwendung. Maßgeblich in der Plattform Industrie 4.0 entwickelt, ist die AAS ein Kernbestandteil von Industrie 4.0: Sie schafft die Voraussetzungen, um Daten in hoher Qualität zu sammeln, auszutauschen und zu verwerten.

Industrial Digital Twin Association founded: Asset Administration shell delivers key technology for Industrie 4.0 to SMEs

On 23 September 2020, VDMA, ZVEI and 20 additional well-known German industrial companies founded the "Industrial Digital Twin Association" (IDTA). IDTA will drive forward the broad use and application of the Asset Administration Shell – the manufacturing industry’s digital twin. Developed primarily in the Plattform Industrie 4.0, the Asset Administration Shell is a core component of Industrie 4.0: it creates the conditions for collecting, exchanging and utilizing high quality data.

Introduction

The publication states how companies can use the Asset Administration Shell to compile and structure information. In this way all information can be shared as a package (set of files) with partners at several levels of the value chain. It is not necessary to provide online access to this data from the very beginning.

The publication provides valuable information on the Asset Administration Shell:

It describes the information content and serialization formats of an Asset Administration Shell.

It specifies a technology-neutral UML model, an XML and JSON schema and mappings for OPC UA, AutomationML and the Resource Description Framework (RDF).

It includes a definition of the AASX exchange format, which is used for the secure transmission of Asset Administration Shells.

It takes account of security aspects and defines access rights for information stored in the Asset Administration Shell based on the Attributes Based Access Control (ABAC) concept.
